1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your computer, phone or tablet when you visit. They let the site remember your actions and preferences over a period of time, so you do not have to re-enter them each time you return or move between pages.
Cookies set by the website you are visiting are called first-party cookies. Cookies set by other organisations whose content appears on the site — for example an embedded map — are third-party cookies. Cookies can be session cookies, which are deleted when you close your browser, or persistent cookies, which stay on your device until they expire or you delete them.
This policy also covers similar technologies such as local storage, which some parts of the site may use to remember a preference on your device.
2. How we use cookies
Prima Systems (South East) Ltd uses cookies for three purposes:
- Essential — to make the website work securely, for example so that our enquiry forms can be submitted safely. These cannot be switched off.
- Analytics — to understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. These are only set where analytics is enabled and you have not opted out.
- Third-party content — to provide features such as the interactive map on our Contact page.
We do not use cookies for advertising, and we do not sell or share cookie data for marketing purposes.
3. Cookies this site sets
Essential cookies
These are necessary for the site to function and are set automatically.
| Cookie | Purpose | Expiry |
|---|---|---|
laravel_session | Keeps your browsing session consistent while you move between pages and use our enquiry forms. | End of session (2 hours) |
XSRF-TOKEN | Security token that protects our forms against cross-site request forgery. | End of session (2 hours) |
Analytics cookies
Where analytics is enabled we use Google Analytics to collect anonymous information about how the site is used, such as the pages visited, how long visitors stay and the type of device used. IP addresses are anonymised and the information is not used to identify individuals.
| Cookie | Purpose | Expiry |
|---|---|---|
_ga | Google Analytics — distinguishes one visitor from another so we can count visits and see which pages are used. | 2 years |
_ga_* | Google Analytics — maintains the state of a visit and records page views. | 2 years |
You can read how Google uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites, and opt out of Google Analytics across all websites with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
4. Third-party cookies
Some pages include content from other providers. When that content loads, the provider may set its own cookies, which we do not control.
| Cookie | Provider | Purpose | Expiry |
|---|---|---|---|
NID, CONSENT, SOCS | Google Maps | Set by Google when the interactive map on our Contact page loads. Used by Google to remember preferences and to secure and improve its services. | Up to 6 months |
Our pages also load fonts from Google Fonts and icons from Font Awesome. These services do not set cookies, but your browser sends your IP address to them when the files are requested. Their privacy policies are available at policies.google.com/privacy and fontawesome.com/privacy.
5. Managing cookies
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you block all cookies, block third-party cookies only, or delete cookies that have already been set. Note that blocking essential cookies will stop parts of this site — including our enquiry forms — from working.
Guidance for common browsers:
For more general information about cookies and how to manage them, visit aboutcookies.org.uk or the ICO's guidance at ico.org.uk.
6. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we add a new feature to the site or change our analytics provider. Any changes will be published on this page with a revised "last updated" date.
